Rest is needed

Avoidance is that thing that we do to absolutely distract ourselves from the very important thing we need to do that will regulate our bodies. I spent all day fretting over those dishes and doing everything else. When I would have felt way better just getting them done and not doing all of the work that really didn't need to be done in the moment. I would of had space to actually REST.

Let's get real for a second.

I am really going through it today.

More than ever today feels like a day I want to give up. Today feels like a day where staying in bed and pouting about all the things that are really difficult that are happening in my life.

I want to more than ever, just curl up in a ball and binge all the TV while ordering all my meals from take out.

But you know where I will be tomorrow if I do that today? In a place of shame. A spiral of shame about not doing anything in my day, and AVOIDING doing what I needed to to progress myself like I wanted to.

Now let's talk about how we avoid things and call it rest.

Avoidance is what is happening to actively go against your personal progression. It keeps you from doing something and NOT doing something.

The other day I had to do the fucking dishes, and I literally cleaned my whole house just to avoid the dishes. My WHOLE HOUSE. I vacuumed and mopped, I cleaned my bathroom floors and put away all my laundry, I even cleaned out the fridge and created more dishes .

But I did everything else just to avoid the plauge that are the fucking dishes.

I did end up getting them done by the end of the night but rewarded myself with a hot shower, a hearty bowl and some ice cream.

Rest puts us in a place of recovery. A place where we can stop for a moment and really rebalance yourself. Avoidance can keep us in a place of anxiety, and realizing what we are avoiding and working toward that really gives us a place to rest.

We all rest differently but feeling that dread drop away from you as we do what we need, and what it takes to be better for ourselves. We see just how easy rest starts to show up for us. We see just how everything else doesn't matter as much.
